Application fee

Applicants with a citizenship from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland must pay an application fee of DKK 750 (app. EUR 100) when applying for a Master’s Programme at the University of Copenhagen, unless they have either permanent residence in Denmark, temporary residence with a view to permanence, or a Danish qualifying degree. You can read about the rules in more detail at https://studies.ku.dk/masters/tuition-fees--scholarships/application-fee/.

Once you have paid the application fee, you are allowed to submit up to three applications to the University of Copenhagen during the same application period, without having to pay for the second and third application separately.

The fee applies for applications created and submitted from November 2017 onwards. You pay the application fee on the payment site, which you can access by following the link at https://studies.ku.dk/masters/tuition-fees--scholarships/application-fee/.

Once the payment has been made, you will receive a set of order confirmation messages by email. During the application process, you will be asked to upload documentation for your fee payment. Please upload either the PDF invoice that should be attached to one of the emails, or a screenshot of the email that gives you a confirmation of receipt of the payment.

When you log into the application portal, the system will know your country of citizenship from your user profile. If your country of citizenship is from outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland, you will be prompted to upload your receipt of payment of the application fee. The upload question will be found on the tab "Other", and will have the following text:

"Upload your receipt for payment of the application fee. If your qualifying degree is from a Danish educational institution, you are exempt from paying the application fee. In that case, upload your examination certificate (even though you have already uploaded it on a previous tab). If you hold a residence permit as per the rules specified at studies.ku.dk/masters/tuition-fees--scholarships/application-fee/, you are exempt from paying the application fee. In that case, upload your residence permit (even though you have already uploaded it on a previous tab)."

The question is set to be mandatory for all non-EU/EEA or Swiss applicants, so as the question text explains, please upload one of the following documents:

  • Your invoice or receipt for application fee payment (either a PDF or screenshot as described previously)
  • Your diploma (or equivalent transcript) from a Danish educational institution
  • Your residence permit

If you have questions about the specifics of how to pay the application fee, please contact lars.stroebaek@adm.ku.dk. If you have questions about the rest of the application documents and requirements, please contact the programme itself.
