Scholarships

The Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen has a very limited number of scholarships to award outstanding non-EU/EEA MSc applicants. The scholarships are allocated to students with excellent academic performance.

The scholarship is granted to cover

  • tuition fees of the full 2-year programme
  • living expenses (2024 level: DKK 10309 per month for 22 months).

Who is considered for a scholarship?

All non-EU/EEA applicants with a grade point average above 90% of their bachelor’s degree will be considered for a scholarship on their 1st priority application.

  • You will only be considered for the scholarships if you are admitted to your 1st priority application.
  • If your grade point average is below 90% you will unfortunately not be considered for the scholarship.

In 2024 the recipients of the scholarships had a GPA of minimum 98%.

You cannot apply just for the scholarship

You will be considered for the scholarship when you have submitted an application for one of our MSc programmes. This means that you cannot make a separate application for the scholarship.

Selection criteria for the scholarships

Apart from the GPA of applicants, the faculty will also take into consideration the general employability of the graduates from different MSc programmes.

Furthermore, it will be ensured that the scholarships are allocated to applicants with different backgrounds both when it comes to nationality and to the programme they have applied for admission to.

In addition, the faculty may choose to allocate some scholarships to support collaboration with applicants from the faculty’s non-European strategic partners.

Scholarship for the 2nd year

Fee-paying students that excel in their first year at SCIENCE may be eligible for a scholarship to cover the tuition fees and living expenses of the 2nd year of their programme.

Selection criteria

To be eligible for the 2nd year scholarship you must:

  • Have passed a minimum of 60 ECTS during your first year of studies at SCIENCE (the results must be registered with the university no later than 1 September).
  • Have achieved excellent grades in the courses passed in your first year of studies at SCIENCE (In 2024 the fee-paying students who were awarded this scholarship had a GPA of 10.75 or higher on the Danish grading scale). If you have passed some of the 60 ECTS as an exchange student, the faculty will make an individual assessment of the grades achieved at the foreign university.

SCIENCE wishes to ensure the diversification of those who are awarded the scholarships. Therefore, maximum three with the same nationality will be awarded this scholarship.

If you are awarded the scholarship, you will be contacted in the beginning of September of your 2nd year. If you already paid the tuition fees for the 3rd semester year, you will get a refund.
