Application Deadline for re-enrollment

You can apply for re-enrollment throughout the year, but we cannot guarantee that your application will be processed in time for the next available start date.

Applications must be submitted through the Application Portal. You can find links to the portal under the relevant categories below.

Apply for admission

You must apply for admission again if you have not previously been enrolled in the programme at the University of Copenhagen.

You must also apply if you have previously studied the same programme at another Danish university and have not completed courses equivalent to the entire first year of the new programme. Applications are submitted through the programme.

If you have studied in a part-time programme or at a university abroad, you must also apply for admission, even if you have completed more than one year under the current curriculum.

Applications are submitted through the programme

You can apply for admission if the following three criteria apply to you:

  • You have not previously been enrolled in the program at the University of Copenhagen.
  • You have not completed courses equivalent to the entire first year of the program.
  • You meet the admission requirements for the program.

  • Your completed exams, exam attempts, study activity requirements (and used SU grant portions) will generally still be transferred, even if you start the program from the beginning. If you are transferring from an older study curriculum, there may be exceptions, and you could lose credit for some coursework.
  • The application deadline may vary depending on the program you are applying to.
  • The rule on credit transfer for previous studies applies if you have studied before.

How to apply

Submit your application via the application portal. Apply well in advance to avoid technical problems that often arise just before application deadlines.

How to use the application portal

  1. Log in or register as a user in the application portal.
  2. Fill in your application.
  3. Exchange data from your previous programme by giving permission for the data exchange.
  4. Upload any necessary documentation that was not transferred.
  5. Submit your application.
  6. Remember to check your email for important messages from UCPH (including your spam filter) and in the application portal. It may be decisive for whether you get a place or not.

Re-admission

Re-admission is for those who:

You need to apply for resumption if:

  • you were a full-time student on the same programme at the University of Copenhagen,
    and
  • you fulfil the programme's entry requirements,
  • it has been at least 5 months since you were cancelled.

If you were previously withdrawn from the programme or were prevented from continuing on the programme, for example because you failed the first-year exam, you can only be admitted if we assess that you can complete the programme or if the programme content has changed significantly.

Be aware that:

  • Your passed exams, exam attempts, study activity requirements (and used SU credits) will generally still be transferred even if you start the programme over.
  • If you come from an older curriculum, there will be exceptions and you may lose credits.
  • The application deadline may vary depending on which programme you are applying for readmission to.
  • The  credit for prior learning  rule applies when you have studied before.
  • Resumption - credit for previous education.

If you were withdrawn from the programme, or if the conditions for the university to have withdrawn you were present when you withdrew yourself (e.g. if you failed the first-year exam), you must upload documentation with your application that your chances of completing the programme are significantly improved.

Write a short free text about why you have withdrawn from the programme and what has changed so that you can now complete it.

You will also need to upload documentation that supports your arguments that you will now be able to complete the programme.

Examples of documentation:

  • Medical statement that includes a timeline of the course, the doctor's professional judgement on how the conditions affected your ability to study in the past and to what extent they affect your ability to study now. If the conditions still exist, the medical certificate must include a prognosis for the duration.
  • Medical record for prolonged illness.
  • Opinion from an authorised psychologist.
  • The statement must include the psychologist's professional judgement on how the conditions affected your ability to study in the past and to what extent they affect your ability to study now.
  • If the conditions still apply, the opinion must include a prognosis for the duration.
  • Examination certificates for subjects, courses or programmes you have passed before and after you were withdrawn from the programme.

Re-enrolment

You must apply for re-enrolment if you have previously studied the same full-time programme and passed the equivalent of the first year of the programme you are applying for. This is regardless of whether you previously studied at UCPH or at another Danish university.

You can be re-enrolled if:

  1. The programme has vacant places.
  2. You were a full-time student in the same master’s degree programme at UCPH or at another Danish university.
  3. You have passed the equivalent of one year of the programme you are applying for.
  4. It has been at least five months since you were disenrolled.
  5. You meet the individual programme's admission requirements

In the application form, you must first choose ‘Study Change/Transfer’ as the type of degree/course. Later, you must choose what type of enrolment you are applying for. Choose ‘Re-enrolment’.

Apply for re-enrollment

In case of re-enrolment, you will follow the most recent curriculum. If you have been enrolled under another curriculum, you might not get a credit transfer for some of your passed exams. Please also note that your previous examination attempts and the study activity requirements that were in force when you were disenrolled from the programme will still apply.

Apply for re-enrollment

Apply for dispensation

If you have used your 3 examination attempts in some of your courses or if you did not meet the requirement for maximum duration of studies at the time of your disenrolment, you can only be re-enrolled if you are granted dispensation for these requirements.

  • You apply for a dispensation by filling out this form, which you have to upload to the application portal with your application for re-enrolment.
  • If you are applying for a dispensation because of illness or any other reason that you can document, please remember to upload this documentation with your application.
